Makena is a Kenyan-American self-taught filmmaker, photographer and writer based in NYC. With a Bachelor of Arts in New Media, concentrating in film studies, she aims to bring forth cultural awareness through captivating visuals & storytelling that explores concepts such as the African Diaspora experience, environment & architecture and the connections of fashion, music and youth. Makena curates her experiences through various mediums to shine a light on a array of different background identities and strategizes content to expand on the dialogue of the multi-faceted world we live in.
